We usually say “I win again, mother fucker!” as a sort of band joke, but this time I may have to say I LOSE again! For the past few years, specifically on my birthday, Alex has nailed me with birthday cake to the face. Two years ago he hit me so hard with it that it went up my nose and got in my ears- and then he took the cake and threw it as hard as he could on the ceiling of our hotel room which made me laugh so hard I almost cried.

This year, on my birthday (August 24th), we had a show in Cleveland. During the end of our set, all the bands (Paramore, Jack’s Mannequin, Paper Route and of course my sneaky bandmates) came on stage and sang happy birthday to me. Love was in the air, until Alex gave me a menacing look and slowly approached me with a birthday cake… At this point I knew I had to act quickly and NOT get hit in the face with cake! As he got closer to me, I grabbed the plate… All was fine. I had the cake in my hands, and to be honest I felt somewhat relieved- that is until I saw Alex start to prepare to shove it in my face yet again. The nerve he has! I made a slapping motion towards the cake and it fell off the stage, splattering a few unsuspecting audience members (sorry!). I felt victorious, as if I had beaten Alex at his game! Sure enough, he jumped off the stage and I knew I had to escape.

So I didn’t entirely “lose again”. I got cake thrown at my arm! My face was untouched. And did I mention that Hailey, from Paramore, hit my butt like a drum when we performed “Big Brat”? Um, that happened.
Now that I think of it, the moral of this blog entry has become abundantly clear… I… still… win… again!!! (Damn right!)

P.S. I was one of the fans right in front of you at the Cleveland concert and I went home cake free…so no worries. And anyway, a true fan should be touched to have gotten a piece of your cake. =D

Darren, that old video made me cry few weeks ago. Yeah, It’s true. So damn funny, you can’t even imagine. I thought first : Yeah, Alex is gonna eat the cake. Even if he’s vegan, he’s gonna eat it, right. But then, it all became so clear. I almost fall of my chair, and then, you put this video who almost looks like a run for your life, hahaha. It’s amazing. I hope the next August 24, I will be in the audience, screaming : RUN DARREN, RUN DARREN. What an odd dream. =) Do we have to be glad that Hayley kinda ”played” with your butt ? I’m gonna say Congratulation, haha. I love Hayley, I’ve meet her and she’s so funny. And I’m with you Darren, you’ll win next year. A true winning, yeah. =) haha, have a good day Phantom Planet. =)

That is like, my favorite video of all time. It’s hilarious, too many funny parts to mention. But all that cake throwing! And I love Alex’s 4 minute abs, haha.

hey i just wnated to say i absolutley luvv u guys i was at the cleveland concert on teh 30th and i thought it was the best concert i ever went to. my favorite show is the oc and whn i found out u guys were going to sing at the paramore concert i alsmost died! after the cake incadent wich i have to admit was relay funny i thought u guys would have to go but when u started singing califorina that made my hoel night i actually cried lol <3 i luv u guyysss
